Fan Club Friday: My Secret Weapon for Our Upcoming PCS Move

If you’ve been following along, you know that a move is in our near future. While military moves mean we have a crew to do the actual packing, the preparation phase is still a massive undertaking. As an AuDHDer, the idea of going through every single item in the entire house is overwhelming. It’s easy to hit a wall before you even start.

That’s why for this week’s Fan Club Friday, I’m highlighting Dana K. White. Unlike the minimalist gurus, Dana’s methods are tried and true for those of us who struggle with home management (ahem, the neurodivergent crew). She focuses on making progress without making a bigger mess—which is essential for avoiding shutdown.

Since I don’t have to pack the boxes myself, my focus is entirely on decluttering in preparation for when the packers arrive. I’m currently rotating through her Audible guide for moving (Moving with Decluttering in Mind) and her podcast (A Slob Comes Clean) while I sort. Dana has a new children’s book too, Winnie’s Pile of Pillows, to help kids understand the process of limits and boundaries with their own items. Her approach is intentional, practical, and exactly what I need to manage this transition with confidence.

My Moving Strategy: I’ve linked all four of these resources on my Benable board. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your space or an upcoming transition, she is the resource you need.
