Back From Break? Try This Simple SEL Reset That Gets Kids Moving

Coming back from a break can feel… rough.
Routines are shaky, expectations need a reset, and students have a lot to say and do.

Instead of another lecture, I created Decision Mode — a whole-group SEL refresher that helps students think through classroom choices using movement, discussion, and reflection.

Here’s how it works:

  • You project a short scenario.
  • Students move to a corner to show their thinking.
  • You discuss using built-in prompts.
  • Students reflect with a quick writing activity.

That’s it.
No prep. No student devices. And no chaos.

It’s perfect for:

  • Back from winter, spring, or summer break
  • Morning meetings
  • Classroom resets
  • SEL refreshers throughout the year

If you’re looking for a calm, engaging way to get students back into learning mode, Decision Mode was made for moments like this.

👉 You can find it now in my Teachers Pay Teachers shop.
